Fairfax have conducted scientific trials to assess the impact breastplates have on the horse’s natural ability to jump. As a result of their findings they have launched a new breastplate design. This design is based on the belief that we should pay attention to all the tack we use on our horses; that a great performance is usually a result of the aggregation of marginal gains i.e. every little helps!
Vanessa explains that a standard breastplate design ‘when a breastplate is attached to a saddle and then to the girth, it forms, in effect a ‘cage’ around the horse’s shoulder apparatus that restricts his movement over a jump’. The new Fairfax breastplate ‘removes that restriction completely and allows the horse to move just as freely as he would without one’ says Vanessa Fairfax.
The new breastplate is available in black and brown, one size which is fully adjustable (not suitable for ponies) at £260
